I have another update on the status of our LOLL baseball season with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. I had a web meeting last week with the Presidents of all the leagues in Oregon Little League District 4. At that meeting, we were provided with the latest information from Little League International. LLI is still determined to proceed with a shortened season. They are working on different season scenarios and safety protocols as the coronavirus situation evolves. LOLL and the other leagues in our area including Tigard, Wilsonville, SW Portland, etc. all hope to continue with modified summer baseball seasons. We must comply with our state and local authorities. LOLL is not connected to the schools and we are not required to close our program because the school year was canceled. However, the governor's stay-at-home order must be lifted and the city parks reopened in order for a baseball season to start. Officially, LLI is still using May 11th as a potential start date. I think it is unlikely that we will be able to start by May 11th in Oregon. I am hopeful that it may be possible to start in June and play into July. We hope that our LOLL families are ready for summer baseball! If your family wants to continue with a shortened summer baseball season, LOLL will continue to provide updates as information becomes available. If you are certain you do not want to participate in a summer season, please contact the league and we will issue a refund and remove your player from our registration data base. Our league does accept donations if you prefer not to be refunded. If it becomes certain that the entire LOLL season must be canceled, the league will refund registration fees.
